Strategic ambitions

A dynamic Switzerland needs an equally dynamic postal service

Customer requirements are at the heart of Swiss Post’s strategy. It is continuing to develop its services in line with this approach, investing in a targeted manner to remain relevant to Switzerland in the future.

Swiss Post is changing

Swiss Post has been undergoing a targeted transformation since 2020. The aim of the “Swiss Post of tomorrow” strategy was to strengthen its core competency – the trustworthy transport of goods, information, people and values – and to set the course for a sustainable universal service. In doing so, Swiss Post laid the foundation for the 2025 to 2028 strategy period – in which the focus is placed even more on customer requirements.

Swiss Post has a clear mission: to make everyday life easier for people and companies in Switzerland and create genuine added value – now and in the future. To achieve this, it is constantly developing its range of services, right where they are needed. It is strengthening its leading role in logistics, expanding its range of digital and mobility services and building up its non-interest financial services. Swiss Post is upgrading its physical access points and expanding its digital services. With targeted investments, Swiss Post will secure its relevance for the future and the high quality of the universal service, which it finances from its own resources.

Progress in line with customer requirements in 2025

Easily accessible services, digital solutions and a wide range of access points are becoming increasingly important. Swiss Post is investing in the expansion of its logistics infrastructure and has opened its largest logistics center to date in Villmergen. In the public transport sector, it is supplementing its services with on-demand services where traditional routes are stretched to their limits. In the Post-App, it is combining important services digitally and simplifying access for customers. It is also continuing to develop its physical locations, such as the new Sihlpost in Zurich, which, as the most modern Swiss Post branch in the country, is setting new standards for advice and usability.

Swiss Post operates in a challenging environment

Constantly changing customer behaviour and the difficult environment remain major challenges for Swiss Post. Declining letter volumes, rising costs and regulatory requirements are putting economic returns under pressure. Targeted efforts are needed. That’s why Swiss Post is consistently developing its strategic course. The aim is to remain a market leader and to ensure a reliable public service for Switzerland. To do so, it is strengthening its core business, making targeted investments in profitable growth and increasing efficiency where effort is not generating enough added value. This requires clear priorities and courageous decisions – always with the ambition of providing Switzerland with top services.

Swiss Post wishes to remain a leader and successful in its markets and continue to provide a reliable public service that impresses customers.

Financial success balanced with customer focus, technology and responsibility

Swiss Post wishes to remain reliable, relevant and economically successful in the future – while also fulfilling its responsibility towards society and the environment. Swiss Post has defined seven strategic ambitions to achieve this goal. They set the course for further development and serve as guidelines for decisions and investments. By setting clear priorities, Swiss Post is striking a balance between economic success and social and environmental added value.

Economy

Customer-centric

Swiss Post knows its customers’ needs. On this basis, it is improving its range of services and continually developing them. It offers a consistent customer experience with tangible added value. Business and private customers have the same high levels of satisfaction and recommend Swiss Post to others.

Sustainable growth

Swiss Post is achieving targeted growth in selected market areas in logistics, communication, mobility and financial services. In doing so, it is securing the financial resources for future investments and making an important contribution to its self-sustainability. It aligns itself systematically with ever-changing needs and invests in areas where there is long-term potential for the future.

Self-sustaining

Swiss Post ensures sustainable value creation through targeted growth. It is continually improving its operating procedures, increasing the efficiency and quality of its services in the long term. Swiss Post checks its prices regularly and adjusts them to market conditions in consultation with the price regulator. This ensures it can continue to finance the public service, necessary innovations and investments from its own resources.

Society

Relevant to the general public

With its products and services, Swiss Post makes everyday life easier for the Swiss public, who use these services every day. The services provided for the public service meet the expectations and needs of a majority. Swiss Post is continually developing this service in collaboration with customers, politicians, its owner and other stakeholders.

Digitally and physically connected

Swiss Post connects the physical and digital worlds. With its traditional physical services, it remains close to people. It is increasingly supplementing its tried-and-tested range of services with digital solutions and additional functions. Swiss Post promotes digitization in Switzerland by expanding digital services and access points.

Employees

Attractive for employees

Swiss Post’s diversity attracts independent and ambitious talent. As one of the largest employers in Switzerland, it acts as a role model: with fair employment conditions, a modern understanding of leadership, future-oriented working models and a broad range of development opportunities. Responsibility and inclusion shape its corporate culture.

Environment

On track for net zero

Swiss Post is committed to a harmonious environment and takes responsibility for climate protection. It is continually taking measures to avoid and reduce its greenhouse gas emissions, including replacing fossil fuels with renewable ones. Swiss Post aims to be carbon neutral in its in-house operations by 2030. By 2040, it aims to achieve net zero along its entire value chain.
